Job summary

Pep Boys is hiring a Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer experience. You will explain diagnoses to customers and co-workers, and stay updated with evolving automotive technology.

Mentorship to others and a clean, safe work area are expected as part of the role. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of automotive repair experience, and ASE certifications (A4/A5) preferred along with a Section 609

Qualifications

• 1 year of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications—brake, hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment.
• Perform duties of lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals when needed.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management informed of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
