Job summary

Pep Boys in Charleston, SC is seeking a skilled Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair, and explain mechanical issues to customers and staff. You will train teammates, learn evolving automotive tech, and maintain a clean, safe shop environment.

The role requires 1+ year of hands-on diagnostic/repair work, ASE certifications (A4/A5) preferred, and a valid driver’s license. Full-time schedule with flexible shifts and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of automotive diagnostic and repair experience.
• 2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering & Suspension, A5 Brakes).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications — brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment, perform all maintenance services.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals as required.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keep management informed of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.
