Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a Technician to professionally inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services, while delivering an excellent customer experience. You will explain technical diagnoses to customers and coworkers and stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology.

In this role you will train and mentor coworkers, maintain a clean and safe shop, and support management by communicating repair needs. Availability across days, nights, holidays, and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering & Suspension; A5 Brakes).
• 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Customer-focused attitude and high motivation.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Pre-employment background check satisfactory.
• Willingness to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications — brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment, and all maintenance services.
• Perform duties of Mechanic and General Service Technician.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical customers and staff.
• Continuously learn new technical information in formal training to stay current with automotive technology.
• Assist fellow technicians in technical activities.
• Keep management informed of repair problems as they arise.
• Maintain an organized and clean shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
