Job summary

AutoNation is expanding its service team in Columbus, OH, seeking an Advanced Technician who can perform repairs and maintenance to manufacturers’ standards. You will collaborate with Parts and Service Advisors, diagnose issues, inspects vehicles, and document work while upholding safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience as an automotive technician preferred.
• Automotive technical training may be required depending on location/store needs.
• Attention to detail and organized work habits are essential.
• Strong follow-up skills and ability to communicate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and/or maintenance as outlined on the repair order per dealer and factory standards.
• Communicate with Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and customer communication.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized by the customer.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and recommend safety and reliability improvements.
• Document all work on the repair order and maintain tool inventory.
• Keep up-to-date with factory bulletins and participate in training classes.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid driver’s license

• A passion for cars and customer service

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

• Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, to drive Customer loyalty.

• Communicating with the Parts Department and Service Advisors regularly to effectively manage production and Customer communication.

• Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing repair, if authorized by the Customer.

• Conducting multi-point inspections to make appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety and reliability of Customer vehicles.

• Documenting work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.

• Maintaining an inventory of normal Technician’s tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as “special tools.”

• Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.

• Providing an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty

What are the requirements for this job?

• High School diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of experience as an automotive technician

• Automotive technical training (varies based on store needs)

• Attention to detail

• Organization and follow-up skills

• Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
