Job summary

AutoNation Inc. in Houston seeks an Automotive Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance to dealership and factory standards, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will communicate with Parts Department and Service Advisors, diagnose malfunctions, conduct multi-point inspections, document work, and pursue ongoing training and skills development.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and maintenance as outlined on the repair order per dealership and factory standards.

• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized by the customer.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and make appropriate safety-related recommendations.
• Document work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintain tools inventory not normally registered with the service department as special tools.
• Keep up with factory technical bulletins and participate in training classes.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

• Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, to drive Customer loyalty.
• Communicating with the Parts Department and Service Advisors regularly to effectively manage production and Customer communication.
• Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing repair, if authorized by the Customer.
• Conducting multi-point inspections to make appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety and reliability of Customer vehicles.
• Documenting work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.
• Maintaining an inventory of normal Technician’s tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as “special tools.”
• Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.
• Providing an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty

What are the requirements for this job?

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience as an automotive technician
• Automotive technical training (varies based on store needs)
• Attention to detail
• Organization and follow‑up skills
• Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record

The pay for this position is between $22.75 - $31.25 flag rate. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
