Job summary

Bridgestone Americas, Inc. in Mokena, IL is seeking an Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, with hands-on learning in inspections, repairs, and service procedures.

You will join a fast-paced service team focused on quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. The role offers a competitive hourly pay range of $19.25 to $28.93, plus a sign-on bonus of $1,500 for first-time hires and a flat-rate pay model for each qualifying task, along with benefits and on-the-job

Qualifications

• Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
• Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times.
• Basic understanding of automotive maintenance and tire repair services, including oil changes, basic inspections and tire repair.
• Reading, writing and math skills.
• 2 years automotive repair experience or vocational-technical training is preferred.
• ASE certification or equivalent training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Change oil and perform other scheduled maintenance services.
• Perform inspections of steering, suspension, and brake systems.
• Install batteries and check electrical systems.
• Perform tire maintenance.
• Install parts.
• Road test vehicles.
• Obtain or maintain ASE certifications within the first two years of employment; tests and fees paid by the company.

Position Summary

Sign-on bonus of $1,500! (first time hires)

The Automotive Technician plays a pivotal role within our automotive service team. You learn foundational skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, while assisting in routine inspections, vehicle assessments, and repair procedures. The role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: $19.25 - $28.93. Technicians use a performance‑based flat‑rate compensation model, rewarding them with a predetermined amount for each eligible task.

Responsibilities

• Change oil and perform other scheduled maintenance services.
• Perform inspections of steering, suspension, and brake systems.
• Install batteries and check electrical systems.
• Perform tire maintenance.
• Install parts.
• Road test vehicles.
• Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certifications in at least one of A1–A8 within the first two years of employment (tests and registration fees are paid by the company; bonuses are awarded for each test passed).

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
• Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times and be able to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Basic understanding of general automotive maintenance and tire repair services, including:
  • Oil changes
  • Basic inspections
  • Repairing tires
• Reading, writing, and math skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of automotive repair experience, completion of a vocational‑technical school program in a related field, or demonstrated skills via third‑party certificates/assessment.
• A.S.E. certification or equivalent external qualifications or training certifications.
