Job summary

AutoNation seeks a Skilled Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance in accordance with dealer and factory standards, helping build customer trust and loyalty.

You will collaborate with Parts and Service Advisors, diagnose issues, perform multi-point inspections, document results, and stay current with factory bulletins. This role offers training, advancement opportunities, and a strong benefits package across our nationwide network.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of automotive technician experience.
• Automotive technical training or certification preferred.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to follow processes and handle multiple tasks.
• Valid in-state driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle repair and maintenance per repair order, meeting dealer and factory standards.
• Communicate with Parts Department and Service Advisors to manage production and customer communication.
• Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs when authorized.
• Conduct multi-point inspections and recommend safety and reliability improvements.
• Document work performed on the repair order.
• Maintain an inventory of standard technician tools and special tools as needed.
• Stay current with factory technical bulletins and training classes.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid driver’s license

• A passion for cars and customer service

What are the day-to-day responsibilities?

• Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, to drive Customer loyalty.

• Communicating with the Parts Department and Service Advisors regularly to effectively manage production and Customer communication.

• Diagnosing the cause of any malfunction and performing repair, if authorized by the Customer.

• Conducting multi-point inspections to make appropriate recommendations to ensure the safety and reliability of Customer vehicles.

• Documenting work performed on each vehicle on the repair order.

• Maintaining an inventory of normal Technician’s tools not normally inventoried by the Service department as “special tools.”

• Keeping abreast of factory technical bulletins and participating in factory-sponsored training classes as appropriate.

• Providing an exceptional customer experience to drive loyalty

What are the requirements for this job?

• High School diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of experience as an automotive technician

• Automotive technical training (varies based on store needs)

• Attention to detail

• Organization and follow-up skills

• Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record
