AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR

THE POSITION:
The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional services to customers.

Education and Experience:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information

- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years or more experience
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) rating as set by service manager
- Maintain the prescribed standard for “hours per customer repair order written”
- Greet customers in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. Communicate with customers to determine the nature of their mechanical problems and obtain accurate customer and vehicle data
- Test-drive vehicle as necessary
- Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Inspect vehicles for potential additional repairs
- Explain repair instructions clearly and legibly on repair orders
- Notify dispatcher of incoming work
- Provide estimates for labor and parts; follow up with customers for approval if costs are uncertain
- Establish and confirm payment methods and obtain approval of credit if needed
- Secure customer signatures on repair orders and provide copies
- Follow up on repair progress and communicate changes to customers
- Handle inquiries regarding work in process and appointments
- Ensure quality control and reduce comebacks
- Deliver vehicles and address customer questions
- Maintain good customer relationships for repeat and referral business
- Keep work and customer areas clean
Physical Requirements:
- Use hands for handling, reaching, climbing, and stooping as needed
- Stand, talk, and hear regularly; walk and sit frequently
- Potential exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles
- Occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision
