AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE ADVISOR

The Service Advisor is responsible for scheduling service work in the service department and for selling additional services to customers.

Education and Experience:

  • 2 years or more of dealer experience
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) rating as set by service manager
  • Maintain the prescribed standard for “hours per customer repair order written”
  • Greet customers in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. Communicate with customers to determine their mechanical problems and obtain accurate customer and vehicle data.
  • Test-drive vehicle as necessary
  • Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance according to manufacturer specifications
  • Inspect vehicles for additional repair needs and clearly explain repair instructions
  • Notify dispatcher of incoming work
  • Provide estimates for labor and parts; follow up with customers for approval if needed
  • Establish and confirm payment methods and obtain necessary approvals
  • Obtain customer signatures and provide copies of repair orders
  • Follow up on repair progress and communicate updates to customers
  • Handle inquiries regarding work in process and appointments
  • Ensure work quality and reduce comebacks through quality control analysis
  • Deliver vehicles and answer customer questions
  • Maintain relationships with customers for repeat and referral business
  • Keep work and customer areas clean and organized
Physical Requirements:
  • Use hands for various tasks, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
  • Stand, talk, and hear regularly; walk and sit frequently
  • Potential exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles
  • Lift/move up to 10 pounds occasionally
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision
