As an Automotive Sales Manager, you’ll steer the dealership’s sales engine—turning goals into momentum and momentum into results. This role exists to elevate performance, keep inventory and programs on track, and deliver a polished, customer-first buying experience.
Key responsibilities include setting monthly/annual targets for unit sales, gross, expenses, and operating profit; hiring, training, coaching, and monitoring the sales team; tracking productivity; acquiring new and used inventory; overseeing factory-sponsored initiatives; guiding merchandising and promotions; reviewing market analyses and sales reports to shape sales campaigns; partnering across departments; managing spend to budget; coordinating New Owner Clinics; and maintaining a professional presence.
Your morning starts by scanning the scoreboard—yesterday’s numbers, today’s opportunities, and where the next big win can come from. You’ll move between the showroom and your office, checking in with leaders, staying close to the flow of customers, and keeping a pulse on inventory and manufacturer programs. Midday brings quick pivots: a market update, a campaign idea, a cross-department huddle, or a plan to sharpen the delivery follow-up experience. By afternoon, you’re aligning priorities, keeping the pace high, and making sure the team finishes strong—then wrapping with a clear plan for tomorrow’s push.
