Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks an Automotive Regulatory Counsel to advise engineering, product, and management on regulatory obligations across markets. The role interfaces with regulatory bodies and internal teams to ensure compliance for ICE, EV, and autonomous vehicle programs.

You will assess regulatory risk, support filings, and help implement proactive compliance policies while working with leadership and outside counsel as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor required with bar admission.
• Minimum 5 years in automotive regulatory compliance, private practice or in-house.
• Michigan state bar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance to engineering, product, EHS, and management on regulatory requirements and risk.
• Advise management on material regulatory risks and compliance strategies.
• Collaborate with homologation, certification, and product teams to align development with standards.
• Address regulatory challenges for autonomous tech, cybersecurity and data privacy.
• Support regulatory investigations, filings, and communications with regulators.
• Interpret new automotive laws and shape internal policy for ICE, EV, and autonomous vehicles.
• Advise on when to involve leadership, regulators, or outside counsel.
