Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) in Superior Township, MI is seeking a Vehicle Safety Compliance Engineer to support federal, state, and local safety regulations for Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

You will review FMVSS standards, participate in regulatory tests, and coordinate with agencies such as NHTSA; travel up to 20% and collaborate with engineering, legal, and product teams to ensure timely compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other analytical/technical field.
• Pre-law, law, or public policy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review vehicle regulations and test procedures (FMVSS, state, and territories) for product applicability and draft clear conclusion documents.
• Represent the company during safety compliance or consumer information tests; investigate issues and propose solutions.
• Perform visual compliance audits on new products.
• Support vehicle homologation and self-certification efforts.
• Execute trend analysis and benchmarking.
• Prepare reports and responses to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Engage in cross-functional activities to support compliance efforts.
• Perform administrative functions such as purchasing and travel requests.
• Contribute to other activities related to motor vehicle safety regulations and technologies.
