Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Quality Engineer for a contract-to-hire role in New Troy, MI. You will support new program launches, develop control plans and PFMEAs, and lead 8D problem-solving with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.

You will drive lean manufacturing initiatives, maintain document control, and perform detailed incoming material inspections to ensure conformance to specifications. This is an onsite role with substantial exposure to automotive quality processes.

Qualifications

• Experience with automotive manufacturing quality systems (IATF 16949).
• Proficient in 8D problem solving and corrective actions.
• Experience with PPAP, APQP and PFMEA processes.
• Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Support new program launches by creating and submitting PPAPs, APQPs, control plans, and PFMEAs.
• Split time between pre-production and post-production activities including documentation and improvement.
• Administer corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
• Serve as primary contact for Corrective Action Requests and customer quality issues.
• Lead 8D problem-solving and corrective action meetings to drive root cause analysis.
• Develop and optimize process parameters for stable, efficient manufacturing.
• Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain a robust document control system (SOPs, work instructions, forms).
• Perform detailed inspections of incoming raw materials for conformance.
• Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and verify effectiveness of actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements and quality standards.
• Communicate quality expectations with customers and suppliers.
• Provide technical guidance to Quality Technicians and team members.
