Qualifications

  • BS or BA in a related field.
  • Recent experience in the Automotive Industry.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Systems.
  • Experience with the APQP system.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Proven technical skills on product and process.
  • Experience in program launch with an automotive manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize core AIAG quality tools to resolve quality concerns.
  • Manage quality concerns and pareto analysis of defects.
  • Investigate customer complaints and provide responses.
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities such as SPC.
  • Support IATF 16949 activities.
  • Interface with customer quality systems.
  • Address supplier quality issues and hold area management.
  • Maintain PPAP status with customers.
  • Review disposition of on-hold products.
  • Assist with corrective actions and rework planning.
  • Create/update job books to document standards and specs.
  • Use 8D and 5Why problem solving techniques.
  • Audit and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Supervise vendor quality control and QC equipment calibration.
  • Enforce safety regulations.

Location: Holland, MI | Schedule: Full-time, on-site

Overview

An established automotive manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Engineer to support its plant quality functions and ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality, driving continuous improvement, and supporting customer and supplier relationships within a regulated manufacturing environment.

What you'll do
  • Utilize core AIAG quality tools (Control Plan, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC) to resolve quality concerns
  • Manage internal and external quality concerns, Fast Track Response, and pareto analysis of defects
  • Act as customer support and investigate customer complaints
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities such as SPC and capability studies
  • Assist with IATF 16949 activities
  • Manage and interface with customer quality systems
  • Address supplier quality issues and manage the quality hold area
  • Create and maintain approved PPAP status with all customers
  • Review and decide disposition of products placed on hold
  • Organize necessary rework/sorting operations
  • Assist with resolving internal and external quality problems and implementing corrective actions
  • Create, review, and update job books to ensure proper documentation of standards and customer product specifications
  • Utilize quality problem solving techniques such as 8D and 5Why
  • Handle customer and supplier concerns appropriately
  • Randomly audit problematic jobs and focus on improvement by working with manufacturing team leaders/managers
  • Perform audits to support plant function
  • Supervise/manage vendor quality control and certification of measuring equipment
  • Follow safety regulations and enforce compliance with company safety rules and regulations
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) required
  • Recent experience in the Automotive Industry
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 Quality Systems
  • Experience with the APQP system
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing techniques
