Job summary

Paragon Honda in New York is seeking an Automotive Payroll Associate with hands-on payroll software experience and dealership background to join our accounting team. You will manage payroll for all employees, ensure accurate taxes and deductions, reconcile GL accounts, and prepare government filings.

The role requires precision, confidentiality, and the ability to work cross-functionally with HR and management.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years payroll experience, preferably in an auto dealership.
• Strong understanding of payroll issues and resolutions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Organized, detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Discretion with confidential information and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Obtain payroll data from HR (new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations, deductions) before payroll runs.
• Process payroll for all employee types, including bonuses, commissions, reversals and reissues.
• Ensure dealership management approves preliminary batches before payroll release.
• Analyze and reconcile payroll and payroll tax GL accounts.
• Ensure compliance with payroll tax laws, policies, and union agreements.
• Integrate payroll information into financial/accounting systems in a timely manner.
• Prepare payroll-related taxes and filing forms; address year-round tax issues.
• Keep CFO/Operations Controller/General Managers informed about key issues and progress.
• Research and resolve payroll or system problems; handle ACA reporting.
• All other duties as assigned.
