Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer experiences. You will explain diagnoses and required repairs to customers and coworkers and stay updated with evolving automotive technology.

You will mentor teammates, maintain a clean, safe shop, and follow all safety/environmental rules. Must be able to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months of automotive mechanical problem-solving and repair experience.
• Section 609 Certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment, perform all maintenance services.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals including employees and customers.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety and environmental rules.
