Job summary

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive technology organization, seeks a Product Development Engineer in Detroit, MI for a long-term contract with potential for direct hire. You will design, develop, and validate complex mechanical assemblies for automotive lighting, integrating mechanical, electrical, and optical components.

The ideal candidate has hands-on product development experience, strong 3D CAD capabilities, and can troubleshoot designs from concept through prototype

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Optical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with mechanical product design and development of complex assemblies.
• Strong 3D CAD capabilities for modeling and drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and design validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine complex mechanical assemblies for automotive lighting and electromechanical applications.
• Create, review, and modify 3D CAD models, drawings, and layouts.
• Evaluate component fit, tolerances, and overall assembly functionality.
• Develop, assemble, test prototypes to validate designs and identify issues.
• Collaborate with electrical and optical engineers to integrate PCBs, lenses, heat sinks, and components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical design challenges and implement changes to improve reliability and manufacturability.
• Support new product development from concept through prototype validation.
• Review specifications and test results to ensure performance targets are met.
