Job summary

The Manitowoc Co is seeking a surface coatings technician to prepare, coat, and finish metal components to automotive-grade specifications. You will rotate through surface prep, mixing, spraying, measuring, documentation, and cleanup in a fast-paced production environment.

Shifts available on 1st, 2nd, and weekend rotations. Candidates should have experience applying coatings, reading safety rules, and basic math skills; forklift certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven skill applying coatings to automotive-standard finishes.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Fluent with basic math and calculating rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Comfort creating and interpreting data collection tools.

Responsibilities

• Prep parts and surfaces, including masking and protecting areas.
• Stage and move parts using overheads, forklifts, or monorail systems.
• Clean and verify surfaces; measure and ensure coating thickness.
• Mix and apply finishes with spray equipment (airless, HVLP, etc.).
• Document quality checks, decals, and SPC charts.
• Maintain spray equipment and follow hazardous waste guidelines.
