Job summary

Amsted Automotive in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking an Automotive Stamping Die Toolmaker (Transfer & Progressive). You will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize transfer and line dies, performing precise tooling setups and ensuring adherence to print specs.

You’ll collaborate with press teams, use 5-Why root-cause analysis, and emphasize safety and Lean practices daily. Shifts are available with premium pay; experience in metal stamping and GD&T is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency interpreting Blueprint GD&T for dies, details, and part prints.
• Strong troubleshooting ability to resolve day-to-day operational issues.
• Ability to interpret CMM or gaging data and adjust tooling to meet customer quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize transfer and line dies—both in-press and out-of-press.
• Perform precise machining and tooling operations using tool room equipment.
• Partner with press teams on setups and efficiencies to hit posted performance targets.
• Follow and champion safety procedures and protocols.
• Apply root cause analysis (including 5-Why) to drive quality and throughput.
• Hold responsibility for maintaining product quality to print specifications.
