Job summary

Nippon Paint Automotive Americas Inc. is seeking a Technical Director to lead the automotive coatings technical organization across product lines, customers, and locations.

This role oversees technical support, product development, technology transfer, new product launches, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while partnering with commercial, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams to drive business growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemistry or related field (MS preferred).
• 10+ years in industrial or automotive specialty chemical environments.
• Broad knowledge in chemistry, coatings, and polymers.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual and 5-year technology strategy for automotive coatings businesses.
• Direct resources supporting OEM and related programs (pretreatment, electrocoat, basecoat, clearcoat).
• Protect and grow business through issue resolution, root cause analysis, and CAPAs.
• Lead programs for new customer approvals, launches, transfers, localization, and cost reduction.
• Partner with commercial, manufacturing, quality, and leadership to prioritize projects.
