Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Closures Systems Engineer to lead concept development and detailed design of door, hood, drop glass, and liftgate opening systems through multiple development stages. You will concept, design, engineer, develop and support launch of full vehicle closures components.

You will work with design, supply chain and other core teams to deliver robust closures and optimize targets for function, cost, weight and investment, using 3D CAD and GD&T to meet standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing automotive closures subsystems.
• 3+ years using 3D CAD software (NX, Catia, 3DX) in a collaborative environment.
• 2+ years in production release processes for automotive components.
• 2+ years designing to world automotive legal requirements.
• 1+ year of experience in a factory setting launching a new product.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop closures geometry and engineering execution with design, supply chain, and core teams.
• Set vehicle-aligned targets for function, cost, weight, and investment.
• Develop 3D geometry and innovative designs that balance crash loads with construction, materials, and manufacturing methods.
• Optimize concepts with analytical and physical assessments to meet federal regulations.
• Deliver world-class craftsmanship and GD&T-driven fit/finish through proper implementation.
• Prototype interaction models, materials, structures, or electrical interactions to prove feasibility.
