Job summary

EPITEC in Dearborn, MI is seeking an Applications Engineer / Product Engineer to drive the design, development, validation, release, and launch of Handles, Locks, and Mechanisms (HLM) for doors, hoods, and tailgates. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in automotive or mechanism-based product development.
• Experience with latching/closure systems and relevant mechanisms.
• Design & Release engineering processes proficiency.
• Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and BOM management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, validation, and release of HLM systems.
• Manage supplier activities to meet cost, quality, timing, weight, and performance targets.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and supplier teams.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation (DFMEA, SCCAF, Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams, DVP&R, ESOW).
• Conduct design reviews and support Failure Mode Avoidance activities.
• Perform analyses including GD&T, dimensional stack-ups, packaging, CAE, dynamic calculations.
• Release and maintain components, BOMs, and engineering changes in WERS and FEDEBOM.
• Review CAD models/drawings in Teamcenter; support sourcing and tooling discussions.
• Identify testing requirements and track completion; lead root cause analysis using 8D/5 Why.
• Support vehicle launches and production implementation at suppliers and plants.
