Job summary

Amentum in Dearborn, MI is seeking a Body Interior Materials Engineer to support vehicle teams and core engineering in resolving material compatibility, warranty, production, and processing issues throughout the life of a part or subsystem. You will work closely with Ford engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing personnel to optimize materials for interior components.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and hands-on problem solving, with opportunities to contribute to new materials

Qualifications

• BS in a related engineering field; materials/chem eng or materials science preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Willing to be mentored, coached and trained.
• High focus and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and self-driven.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Attend core functional tech club meetings and participate in reviews.
• Review and sign off engineering drawings via TeamCenter.
• Update material and performance specifications, approved source lists and test methods.
• Assist in resolving assembly, manufacturing, durability and field issues; liaise between lab, engineering and manufacturing; initiate lab requests as required.
• Support Research and Innovation Center in special projects.
• Contribute to approval and release of new technology materials that reduce cost, weight or improve quality.
