Job summary

ABB’s R&D team seeks an Onsite Test Engineer to develop and automate lab test processes, ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and ISO 17025. You will contribute to test automation, calibration, and documentation within the Motion Drive Products Division in the US.

Ideal candidates have a background in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with hands‑on LabVIEW and PLC experience, plus familiarity with industrial protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or a related field) with at least 1 year of experience in test engineering and automation.
• Hands‑on experience with NI LabVIEW, PLC programming, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DeviceNet, Profibus).

Responsibilities

• Collaborative Test Development and Test Process Development: Develop and automate both new and existing test processes to improve their reliability, repeatability, and efficiency.
• Standards Compliance and Audit Support: Execute automated testing in compliance with ABB’s internal requirements and applicable industry standards (UL, CSA, IEC).
• Process Improvement and Strategic Input: Identify gaps in current test processes and implement robust, sustainable improvements.
• Documentation and Reporting: Document test programs, setups, procedures, and programming methodologies for long‑term maintainability and knowledge transfer.
• Systems Upgrades and Technical Support: Support software updates and hardware upgrades to keep lab systems current and provide testing support to product development teams.
