Job summary
Novelis Greensboro is seeking an Automation Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of plant automation, electrical, and control systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation, while collaborating withMaintenance and Engineering teams to improve reliability and safety.
The role requires strong troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and documentation skills, with experience in industrial environments and a commitment to safety and operational
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate degree or technical training in electrical/automation is preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician license or automation certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, industrial computers, and process control systems.
- Serve as on‑shift technical lead for automation systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize reliability and uptime.
- Diagnose electrical/instrumentation/controls failures using structured troubleshooting.
- Back up, restore, update firmware, and perform software maintenance on PLC/HMI systems.
- Monitor system health and drive reliability improvements.
