Job summary

CHEP is seeking an Automation Technician II for the Livonia, MI facility. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC-controlled systems.

You will document work orders, drive process improvements, and support safety and reliability goals. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in industrial maintenance, strong schematic skills, and PLC/robotics experience.

Qualifications

5-7 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance.
Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics and drawings.
Strong troubleshooting skills for PLCs, motors, sensors, and drives.
Willing to work non-traditional hours with on-call availability.
Desire to lead teams and participate in safety programs.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems including PLCs.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in plant equipment such as conveyors and pallets handling machines.
Document work orders and maintenance activities in the CMMS accurately and timely.
Support reliability initiatives through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Participate in health, safety, and environmental programs and risk assessments.
Assist with scheduling maintenance tasks and training of junior technicians.
