JOB REQUIREMENT US: Advanced Assembly, Inc. (AAI), located in University Research Park on the west side of Madison, is looking to add an Automation Technician I to our well-trained and experienced staff.

Advanced Assembly, Inc. is an electronics manufacturing services provider of electronic assemblies and products, including the Captioned Telephone (CapTel). Our exceptional reputation has been earned through the years, based on production capability, reliability, and quality.

This full-time position offers a second shift schedule of Monday - Thursday, 2:45 PM - 12:45 AM, a competitive starting wage and a full Benefits Package. Wage Depending On Experience. Job Summary

The Automation Technician I is responsible for running, maintaining, and fine-tuning programs for all equipment used in related machines used for circuit board assembly in the assigned area. Primarily, this is an entry-level Technician position.

Essential Functions
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Understand and follow all applicable safety and quality system procedures.
  • Monitor the quality of the products and adjust the machines to comply with quality standards.
  • Assist other Technicians in unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and prototypes as necessary.
  • Monitor the machines during production, resolve issues, and log results.
  • Monitor the processes on the line to ensure they are being followed.
  • Provide general assistance to the workflow in the department as required.
  • Work on the line to fill in for Machine Operators, as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by primary supervisor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, hear and talk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to stand in one area for long periods of time, with minimal breaks. Physical ability to move freely and have sufficient reflexes to perform the same tasks repeatedly using hands to complete the task at a constant rate so the assembly line will not be interrupted. Hand-eye coordination necessary to work with small electronic parts. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Other Experience and Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Computer Programming, PC Repair, Automotive, CNC, or equivalent fields. Relative experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand both verbal and written instructions in the English language.
  • General knowledge of machinery and the ability to take things apart and put them back together.
  • Knowledge of Printed Circuit board automation is a plus.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, fine circuit detail, and tones.
  • Good verbal and written skills to communicate well in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to fill out daily records and logs.
