Job summary

Altium Packaging in Sparta, TN is seeking an Automation Technician to support the plant floor with set-up, debugging and ongoing maintenance of packaging automation and robotics.

The role requires a certification and hands-on electrical/mechanical experience; PLC programming skills are desirable, with strong safety and teamwork ethos.

Qualifications

• 1+ years Mechanical/Electrical background.
• Experience with basic electrical circuits a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery and equipment safely on the production floor.
• Read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Work with electrical power from 24V to 480V.
• Set up and debug new automation as needed.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair automation and mold equipment.
• Develop, install and program automation and robotics.
• Assist with integration, startup and debugging of plant floor equipment.

Essential Functions

• Handle and operate any machinery, tools or equipment used safely while performing job duties.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints Mechanical and Electrical.
• Must be able to work with electrical power from 24v to 480v.
• Must be able to adjust sensors or know how to configure sensors.
• Set up & debug new automation as needed.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various packing, automation and mold equipment.
• Develop, install, and program automation and robotics.
• Develop, install and validate vision systems.
• Assist with the integration, startup and debugging of plant floor equipment.
• Maintain clean work environment.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions if required to go outdoors. Proper use of PPE is required at all times.

Physical Demands

• Remain stationary extended periods of time.
• Move around production floor.
• Communicate with subordinates.
• Position self to ground level as needed.
• Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 lbs.
• Identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more.

Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
