Job summary

First Solar Inc. is hiring an entry-level Automation Technician to support manufacturing operations, assist with equipment startup, PLC/HMI programming, and troubleshooting of control systems.

The role will rotate between AM and PM shifts, with a 36/48-hour week and working every other Friday to Sunday. The chosen candidate should have 2+ years in manufacturing controls or a related field, or 5+ years without a degree.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing equipment electrical/electronic/controls experience.
• Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, Industrial Controls, or Electronic Engineering preferred.
• No Degree - 5+ years verifiable experience in related field (e.g., Semiconductors, Automotive).

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing facilities and remote sites; troubleshoot and maintain electrical control systems.
• Assist with equipment installation/startup and MES integration events.
• Update electrical drawings and document equipment changes.
• Coordinate with Controls Engineering to implement software changes and upgrades.
• Identify improvements and document solutions for control problems.
• Interface with multiple departments; maintain clear communications and safety standards.
• Carry out operational procedures and participate in maintenance tasks.
