Job summary

Motion Controls Robotics, Inc. is seeking an Automation Technician/Electrician to build and wire custom industrial automation equipment at the facility and at customer sites across North America. On‑the‑job training and tuition support are provided, with FANUC America training available.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years mechanical assembly and electrical experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel 35–50% of the time; travel costs paid by the company.
  • Own a set of tools and ability to use various power tools.
  • Regularly lift 30–50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to bend, stretch, reach, kneel, climb, push/pull, and work in warm temps.
  • Good manual dexterity for fast and accurate assembly.

Automation Technician/Electrician

Position Overview

We are looking for an innovative individual to join our team as an Automation Technician/Electrician. This role involves building and wiring custom industrial automation equipment at the MCRI facility and at customer locations throughout North America and abroad. Qualified candidates will receive on‑the‑job training, tuition support for relevant courses, and online or onsite training from FANUC America.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Install conveyors, framework, robots, tooling, and guarding.
  • Build wire back panels for electrical cabinets.
  • Install and wire conveyor motors, junction boxes, sensors, stack lights, and light curtains.
  • Design and manufacture mounting brackets for electrical junctions, wireways, switches, sensors, and valve manifolds.
  • Support engineering, manufacturing, and programming teams in testing and debugging equipment.
  • Perform basic robot repairs, including preventative maintenance, replacement of wiring harnesses, gearboxes, and jogging the robot.
  • Work required hours and overtime as needed, including weekends, occasional Sundays, and holidays.
  • Maintain personal organization, follow safety and assembly procedures, keep accurate documentation and time entry.
  • Collaborate with supervisor, internal departments, contractors, and customer personnel to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Be punctual, safety conscious, willing to learn, maintain a professional appearance, and exhibit a good attitude.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED (required). Associate’s degree in electrical or related field preferred.
  • Associate’s degree and 1–2 years mechanical assembly and electrical experience preferable.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable commute to work, and ability to travel to multiple customer sites for installs and service work.
  • Travel required 35%–50% of the time; travel costs paid by the company.
  • Own tools and ability to use a variety of machine shop power tools.
  • Ability to regularly lift 30–50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Flexibility to bend, stretch, reach, kneel, climb, push, pull, walk, sit, and work in warm temperatures during summer.
  • Manual dexterity to assemble parts quickly and accurately.
Preferred Requirements
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; experience in machine assembly, pneumatics, basic welding, basic machining, fabrication, and wiring.
  • Basic computer operation and software knowledge.
  • Intermediate math and high‑level reasoning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Job Type

Full‑time, hourly, on‑site in Fremont, Ohio, with required travel to customer sites.

Pay

Hourly rate $19.00 – $29.00. Additional compensation: $3.00 extra per hour for regular overtime and $4.50 per hour regular overtime travel incentive when traveling more than 50 miles away.

Schedule
  • 8‑hour day shift, Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM–3:30 PM, with occasional overtime during the week or on weekends.
