Job summary

American Orthodontics Corporation in Sheboygan, WI is seeking an Automation/Electrical Technician to integrate robotics, vision systems and PLCs into automated production cells. You will layout electrical panels and drive continuous improvements, partnering with maintenance to troubleshoot on the shop floor.

Qualifications: high school diploma, associate degree in electronics/controls, and 3 years manufacturing experience.

  • Proficiency with PLCs and Omron experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with HMIs, vision systems, and robotics.
  • Proficiency with PC-based systems including networking.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate robotics, vision systems, part feeders, PLCs into automated production cells.
  • Layout and build electrical panels; upgrade control panels and wiring as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement on existing automated equipment; upgrade controls and integrate new equipment.
  • Partner with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues on the floor.
  • Create new electrical schematics and update existing ones; ensure safety compliance.

  • Ability to integrate robotics, vision systems, part feeders, PLC's, etc. into an automated production cell
  • Ability to layout and build electrical panels/equipment in a neat and orderly manner
  • Drive continuous improvement activity on existing automated manufacturing equipment (upgrading controls, rewiring/replacing control panels, and integration of new equipment)
  • Partner with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and correct equipment issues on the manufacturing floor
  • Create new electrical schematics and updated existing schematics as needed
  • Implement safety improvements to machines such as light curtains, interlocked guards, and ergonomic operator interface buttons
  • Provides input pertaining to the development of functional specifications for new equipment builds. Partners with manufacturing engineers and equipment vendors on best practices
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum Associates degree in electronics, electromechanical or controls related field.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing
  • High level of proficiency with troubleshooting and programming of PLC's (Omron experience is a plus)
  • High level of proficiency with implementation and programming of HMIs, motion control drives, vision systems, and Robotics
  • High Level of proficiency with PC Based systems including networking systems
  • Mustbe able to lift up to 40 pounds
