Job summary

Viking Forge in Streetsboro, OH is seeking an Automation Technician to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and the continued reliability of our automated manufacturing systems. You will work on electrical control systems including robots, PLCs, sensors, and HMIs, performing routine checks and documents tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or related field; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum of 1 year hands-on experience in industrial/manufacturing environment focused on electrical controls/automation.
• Solid understanding of electrical control systems: sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMIs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving to identify root causes and durable solutions.
• Clear verbal and written communication; ability to document work and collaborate cross-departmentally.
• Team-oriented with ability to work cooperatively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Routine maintenance & inspections of electrical control systems including robots, PLCs, sensors, actuators.
• Diagnose and repair issues, identify root causes, implement corrective actions.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of new automation equipment.
• Provide floor support for new automation projects and ensure proper functionality.
• Conduct diagnostic testing and system evaluations to optimize performance.
• Daily checks of press lines to ensure setup and operation.
• Generate detailed reports on system performance and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor operations and propose improvements to increase efficiency and safety.
• Follow safety protocols and company standards when working with high‑voltage equipment.
