Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Robotics Technician (FANUC preferred) in Bartlett, IL. The role supports installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of robotic automation systems across the Midwest and beyond.

You will travel ~40% to customer sites, troubleshoot and edit robot programs, and assist with SAT and system startups. No programming from scratch required; training available and growth toward FANUC Master Certification.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with industrial robots or automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and editing FANUC robots preferred.
  • Candidates with ABB, Universal Robots, Yaskawa, or similar platforms encouraged to apply.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support project planning and system readiness before equipment ships.
  • Troubleshoot robotic systems and automation equipment; assist engineering teams.
  • Commission robotic systems at customer sites; support startups and SAT.
  • Travel to customer facilities; travel mostly within IL, WI, MI, OH, NY.

Robotics Technician (FANUC Preferred)Location: Bartlett, ILPay: Up to $45/hour (Direct Hire)Employment Type: Direct Hire or Contract-to-HireJoin a Growing Custom Automation CompanyWe're partnering with a leading custom automation company that designs and builds automated systems for a variety of industries. They're looking for a Robotics Technician to support the installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning of robotic automation systems throughout the Midwest and beyond.What You'll Be DoingWhen you're not traveling, you'll be based out of the Bartlett facility where you'll:Support project planning and system readiness before equipment shipsPerform factory acceptance testing (FAT/SAT preparation)Troubleshoot robotic systems and automation equipmentAssist engineering teams with system testing and project executionWhen you're traveling (approximately 40%), you'll:Commission robotic automation systems at customer facilitiesTroubleshoot and edit existing robot programs (no programming from scratch required)Support startups, installations, and customer acceptance testing (SAT)Provide technical support while maintaining a professional, customer-focused attitudeMost travel is within Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and New York, typically lasting one to two weeks at a time.
