Join Matrix DesignAt Matrix Design, our promise is simple: Developing Great People, Building a Great Company, and Delivering Great Results. We tackle complex automation challenges across industries, and we succeed because we put the right people in the right seats—people who love solving hard problems together.A day in this rolePicture your morning on a customer floor: you arrive to commission a new robotic cell. You connect with the project manager and controls engineer, verify I/O, load a FANUC program, and fine-tune path speeds. After lunch, you integrate the HMI with a safety PLC, calibrate a Cognex vision system for feature detection, and run test cycles. You document changes, update schematics, and leave the site safer and more productive than you found it. The next day may bring ABB or Yaskawa programming back at our facility, preventative maintenance on a pick-and-place line, or a troubleshooting call that tests your ingenuity. That variety—and the impact you have on manufacturing performance—is the heart of this job. What you’ll ownInstallation & Commissioning – Install, configure, and prove out robotic and automated systems to engineering specifications; support on-site startups at customer facilities.System Support & Maintenance – Execute preventive maintenance, perform repairs, and diagnose issues spanning robots, PLCs, HMIs, and peripheral equipment.Programming & Optimization – Assist with programming, calibration, cycle-time tuning, and continuous improvement of robotic cells and subsystems.Documentation, Safety & Collaboration – Record maintenance and troubleshooting steps, update schematics and logs, uphold all safety standards, and partner closely with engineers and project managers. How you show upIdeal Team Player – Humble (raise others up, low ego), Hungry (self-driven, eager for responsibility), and Smart (people-savvy, sound judgment).Skills you bringHands-on knowledge of industrial robotics and automationExperience with PLCs and HMIs, plus programming interfaces for FANUC, ABB, and Yaskawa robotsIndustrial vision programming experience (FANUC, Cognex, Keyence, etc.)Mechanical aptitude with pneumatics and electrical systemsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to read/interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematicsClear communicator with cross-functional teams; detail- and safety-focusedOrganized and efficient at juggling multiple projectsQualifications2+ years working directly with robotic systems in manufacturing or automation environmentsBackground in robotic integration, troubleshooting, and maintenanceFamiliarity with risk assessments, safety protocols, and industrial standardsValid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sitesTravelUp to 40% travel. Our culture & valuesWe thrive by living our Core Values: “We Can Do That!”, “We Do It Right!”, “We Do What We Say”, “We Do It Better Next Time!”, “We Do It Together!”, and “We Do It for a Greater Purpose”.Compensation noteThe posted salary range is an estimate for this position.
