Job summary

Engtal is seeking a hands-on Automation Field Support Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and support advanced automated manufacturing systems across North America. You’ll work with CNC centers, robots, conveyors and vision systems, partnering directly with customers during installation, startup and acceptance.

The role blends mechanical assembly, electrical troubleshooting and controls with field service, offering a dynamic career path in a global automation leader.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
  • Experience in automation, controls, field service, machine installation, or maintenance engineering.
  • Strong ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel ~75–90% across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Install and support advanced automated manufacturing systems at customer facilities.
  • Assist with machine installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, and system integration.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, electrical systems, and automation hardware.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; support robot setup and calibration.
  • Provide post-installation troubleshooting and ongoing field support.

Travel: Approximately 75–90% (project-based)

Compensation: $65,000–85,000 base + Daily Overtime (1.5x after 8 hours) + Annual Profit Sharing

Position Overview

We're looking for a hands-on Automation Field Support Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and support advanced automated manufacturing systems. This role combines mechanical assembly, electrical troubleshooting, industrial robotics, and controls while working directly with customers throughout North America.

You'll work with high-end CNC machining centers, industrial robots, conveyors, vision systems, and automated material handling equipment while partnering directly with customers during installation, startup, and system acceptance. What You'll Do
  • Install and support advanced automated manufacturing systems at customer facilities
  • Assist with machine installation, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, and system integration

What We're Looking For
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands‑on experience)
  • Experience in automation, controls, field service, machine building, industrial equipment installation, manufacturing engineering, or maintenance engineering.
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics, CNC equipment, or industrial automation is highly preferred
  • Comfortable working directly with customers
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75–90%
