Job summary

Waters is seeking an Automation Technician for 1st shift in Mebane, NC to perform inspections, calibration, and maintenance of automation systems and instrumentation. You will troubleshoot hardware, software, and mechanical issues to rapidly restore operations while supporting validation activities and change control documentation.

Responsibilities include coordinating with QA and engineering, assisting with upgrades, and driving reliability and compliance in a high-volume analytics setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering technology, automation, electronics, or a related technical discipline is required.
• Suitable industrial experience may substitute for the degree.
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience supporting validated automation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, calibration, and operational checks on automation systems and supporting instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot automation and vision system hardware, software, mechanical and process-related issues to rapidly restore equipment and system functionality.
• Execute equipment setup, installation, qualification, and validation activities for new automation platforms and system upgrades.
• Assist with investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and resolution of automation-related deviations and equipment failures.
• Support automated manufacturing equipment and perform basic automation software configuration under engineering guidance.
• Maintain documentation, calibration records, validation documentation, and change control records.
• Coordinate with QA, engineering, and external vendors to support maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, throughput, and compliance.
