Job summary

Actalent in Mebane, NC is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide hands-on coverage for manufacturing lines, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation issues while supporting preventive maintenance and OEM collaboration. The role includes leading equipment upgrades, installation, and commissioning, with documentation of downtime and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation-related issues.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals and engineering docs.
• Hands-on PLC and HMI diagnostics experience.
• Experience commissioning or modifying automated production equipment.
• Experience communicating with machine builders or OEM technical-support teams.
• Evidence of leading root-cause investigations rather than just replacing parts.
• Experience training operators or junior maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation-related problems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance training and partner with OEMs for specialized support or equipment modification.
• Implement equipment upgrades and assist with new-machine installation and commissioning.
• Lead engineering projects or production-line modifications and ensure changes are properly applied and documented.
• Maintain records of maintenance activity, equipment performance, and downtime.
• Prepare detailed troubleshooting and repair reports.
• Ensure work complies with applicable safety requirements.
• Collaborate with operations to maintain equipment readiness and drive continuous improvement for efficiency and quality.
