Job summary

Mentor Technical Group in Wilson, NC is seeking an Automation Engineer I to troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs and vision systems on OEM packaging equipment. The role includes Level 1 support, incident documentation, and collaboration with the Service Delivery Manager to resolve issues on shift.

The successful candidate will document procedures, contribute to Knowledge Base content, and adhere to safety and quality standards while working on-site in Wilson, North Carolina, with rotating shifts including

Qualifications

Experience supporting OEM packaging equipment.
Hands-on PLC, HMI, and vision systems troubleshooting.
Experience with multiple controller brands (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, ABB, Beckhoff, B&R).
Ability to document clearly and accurately.
Ability to work onsite in Wilson, NC and support rotating shifts, including overnight coverage.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and support PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems on OEM packaging equipment.
Perform Level 1 troubleshooting before escalation per procedures.
Document troubleshooting steps and outcomes in the ServiceNow log.
Provide clear incident details to enable further support.
Support root cause analysis with onsite data gathering and observations.
Create and update Knowledge Base articles for common issues and solutions.
Coordinate with Service Delivery Manager and onsite stakeholders on incident status.
Follow site safety, quality, and operational procedures.
