Job summary

Lesaffre Group is seeking a Scientist II for Automated Strain Engineering in Brisbane, CA. The role focuses on high-throughput cloning, yeast strain construction, and automation-enabled workflows to accelerate metabolic engineering projects.

You will mentor junior researchers, collaborate with Automation Engineers, and apply AI-assisted approaches to experiment design and data analysis in a startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with relevant industry experience preferred in molecular biology or related fields.
• Hands-on cloning, genome editing, and yeast strain construction experience.
• Experience enabling high-throughput workflows and AI-assisted tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safety: follow safety protocols and participate in safety programs.
• Develop and onboard high-throughput cloning and strain construction methodologies.
• Translate benchtop protocols into automation-ready workflows with Automation Engineers.
• Apply Python or similar tools for autonomous data analysis and visualization.
• Mentor junior researchers and support lab operations.
