Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Automation & Robotics Engineering Technician to support and optimize automated manufacturing operations on the shop floor in South Charleston, OH. This hands-on role combines robotics, PLC troubleshooting, welding processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to reduce downtime, improve cycle times, and deliver lasting solutions while developing skills toward manufacturing leadership roles.

Qualifications

13 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience with industrial robotics, automation, controls, or PLC troubleshooting.
Experience programming, teaching, or troubleshooting industrial robots is highly preferred.
Understanding of robotic welding or automated welding processes.
Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Experience using calipers, micrometers, or similar measurement equipment.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Comfortable working directly on a manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and help minimize production downtime.
Support industrial robots, automation equipment, and PLC-controlled systems.
Assist with robot programming, teaching, troubleshooting, and process adjustments.
Support and improve robotic welding processes to maintain consistent quality.
Identify weld quality concerns and assist with corrective actions.
Perform root cause analysis on equipment and production issues and implement countermeasures.
Improve cycle times, throughput, quality, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Use calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions.
Document process improvements, equipment issues, troubleshooting steps, and corrective actions.
Use Microsoft Excel to track production data, performance metrics, and improvements.
Participate in manufacturing technology projects involving automation, controls, robotics, welding, and process optimization.
