Job summary

Proterra seeks a versatile maintenance technician to support production and automation equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain automated systems, reading schematics, and troubleshooting PLC logic.

You will document activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires hands-on experience with robots, PLCs, CMMS, and a readiness to work rotating shifts and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Mechatronics degree or 5 years of experience on automation lines.
• Demonstrated PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Hands-on experience with industrial robots (Fanuc, UR preferred).
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms for work orders and documentation.
• Experience participating in CI activities like Kaizen, 5S, RCA or FMEA.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and travel up to 10% as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair production and automation equipment.
• Diagnose emergency and unscheduled failures to minimize downtime.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.
• Troubleshoot complex issues using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills.
• Read manuals and schematics; interpret wiring diagrams and PLC logic.
• Document maintenance activities including parts used and root causes in CMMS.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and automation teams for continuity.
• Support continuous improvement via Kaizen, RCA, and PM optimization.
• Develop and refine standard work and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Operate and use tools safely; maintain 5S clean and organized work areas.
