Job summary

Adient plc is seeking a Dedicated Automation Technician to ensure reliability and performance of automated manufacturing systems. This shift-based role performs preventive maintenance on robots, PLCs, conveyors, vision systems, and related components, diagnosing issues and restoring operations safely to minimize downtime.

You will document maintenance activity in the CMMS, escalate chronic issues to Automation Engineering, support root-cause analysis, and train operators in basic troubleshooting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical cert or Associate degree preferred.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on robots, PLCs, conveyors, vision systems, servo systems, pneumatics, electrical devices, and related automation components.
• First responder for automation failures; diagnose faults and restore equipment safely with minimal downtime.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify wear and early failure indicators before breakdowns.
• Record work performed, parts used, downtime, actions in CMMS; maintain logs.
• Escalate complex issues to Automation Engineering with clear evidence and recommended actions.
• Support root-cause analysis and reliability improvements by identifying repeat failures.
• Train production operators on safe, basic automation troubleshooting and escalation practices.
• Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout and emergency-stop validation.
