Job summary

ADS is seeking an Automation Engineer to support development, integration, and implementation of automation and control systems in manufacturing. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and optimizing solutions to improve throughput, safety, and quality while simplifying operations for plant teams.

Responsibilities include managing projects, funding requests, and stakeholder communication, while leading capital initiatives and training personnel on new technologies across ADS facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 6+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing environments.
• Robotic automation experience strongly preferred (Fanuc).
• Understanding of manufacturing operations and plant environments.
• Basic PLC/HMI knowledge (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems.
• Working knowledge of machine safety and ergonomics.

Responsibilities

• Manage automation projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Develop business cases and supporting documentation for capital funding requests.
• Lead capital projects through all phases of execution.
• Train plant personnel on new automation technologies and equipment.
• Support plant integration efforts and post-implementation activities.
• Partner with maintenance teams to ensure reliable, continuous operations.
• Manage vendors, suppliers, contractors, and internal project resources.
• Communicate project status, risks, and updates to stakeholders and leadership.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
• Align cross-functional teams around project goals and execution plans.
• Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to technical challenges.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Coordinate efforts across Safety, Finance, IT, Engineering, and Plant Operations.
• Support automation and system upgrades tied to ADS's long-term manufacturing vision.
