Job summary

ADS is seeking an Automation Engineer to support development, integration, and implementation of automation and control systems in manufacturing. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and optimizing solutions to improve throughput, safety, and quality while simplifying operations for plant teams.

Responsibilities include managing projects, funding requests, and stakeholder communication, while leading capital initiatives and training personnel on new technologies across ADS facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 6+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing environments.
• Robotic automation experience strongly preferred (Fanuc).
• Understanding of manufacturing operations and plant environments.
• Basic PLC/HMI knowledge (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems.
• Working knowledge of machine safety and ergonomics.

• Coordinate efforts across Safety, Finance, IT, Engineering, and Plant Operations.
• Support automation and system upgrades tied to ADS's long-term manufacturing vision.

Day to Day

The Automation Engineer will support the development, integration, and implementation of ADS automation and control systems. Typical daily activities may include:

• Preparing and presenting capital funding requests
• Engaging with stakeholders across safety, finance, engineering, and operations
• Tracking project schedules, spending, milestones, and deliverables
• Visiting vendors to review equipment design and manufacturing progress
• Participating in equipment development, testing, and validation activities
• Troubleshooting automation and integration issues
• Overseeing installation activities with third-party contractors at ADS facilities
• Participating in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to ensure equipment meets requirements prior to deployment and handoff to operations.

This role is paying up to $135,000 per year

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
