Job summary

Weyerhaeuser in Emerson, AR is seeking a Process Control Engineer II to join our Engineered Wood Products facility. This full-time, exempt role reports to the Maintenance Manager and focuses on setting up and maintaining automation across manufacturing processes.

You will serve as the site expert for automation platforms, lead select projects, mentor technicians, and collaborate with plant leadership to optimize process control solutions and drive safety and reliability across operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experience in process control
• Minimum of 5 years' experience applying process control solutions in manufacturing
• Proven success in developing and applying process control for product improvement and cost reduction
• Advanced knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and related systems with programming/configuring complex automation
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects with site and corporate engineering participation
• Ability to collaborate with managers, operators, technicians, and IT staff
• Extensive process knowledge and understanding of dynamic process behavior
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving abilities
• Capacity to manage several projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and support best practices for process control across the plant and leadership.
• Share industry best practices for control systems and applications.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Provide project and technical leadership for process control tech and PLC technicians.
• Lead projects to install and apply new control technology and methods with training.
• Create visibility and lead reviews of technology for manufacturing operations.
• Build relationships with corporate process control resources.
• Engage external suppliers for process and control technology.
• Partner with operations and leaders to align projects with business goals.
• Mentor and develop other control engineers and technicians.
