Job summary

J&O Plastics, a leading manufacturer of quality custom injection molding, seeks an Automation Machine Builder to join the Automation Engineering team on the shop floor. You will build and modify automation systems, perform mechanical assembly, read drawings, and assist with integration and installation.

The role requires hands-on skills with hand/power tools, basic electrical wiring, and the ability to read part drawings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on mechanical experience, preferably with automated systems.
• Demonstrated ability to build and troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment.
• Experience with measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers).
• Ability to read and interpret part drawings, assembly drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with pneumatic circuits and components.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and with engineers/technicians.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety procedures and demonstrate safe working practices.
• Assemble, fabricate, integrate and install automation systems or components.
• Read and interpret blueprints or drawings to determine assembly specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
• Follow electrical drawings to perform basic wiring of junction boxes and cables.
• Perform basic machining operations as needed to create or modify components.
• Complete pneumatic circuits by routing air hose and connecting components.
• Inspect completed assemblies to ensure they function correctly.
• Use hand and power tools to complete mechanical tasks.
• Collaborate with engineers to identify problems and brainstorm solutions.
• Document work progress and communicate modifications to fix issues.
