Job summary

Chobani is seeking an Automation Technician Lead to provide on-shift technical leadership for facility automation systems and to perform advanced hands-on work while guiding technicians during complex troubleshooting events.

The role requires strong PLC, HMI, robotics, vision, and industrial network knowledge to resolve issues affecting safety, quality, and uptime, and to ensure compliance with GMPs and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical, controls, and automation experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment or a technical degree.
• Experience leading automation troubleshooting during high-impact production events.
• Advanced knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and programming.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary on-shift escalation point for automation-related issues impacting production, quality, safety, or equipment reliability
• Lead real-time troubleshooting for PLC, HMI, robot, vision, and automation network issues
• Provide hands-on support for PLC logic, HMI configuration, motion control, robotics, and vision systems
• Direct automation technicians during downtime events to minimize production impact
• Develop and maintain automation documentation including PLC programs and HMI apps
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety, GMPs and automation standards
• Mentor automation technicians to support skill development
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Quality to drive improvements
• Assist with commissioning, startup and validation of new or modified systems
• Coordinate vendor/contractor support during upgrades when required
• Follow safety procedures and best practices in automation reliability and integration
