Job summary

Makino Inc. is hiring an Automation Support Engineer to install, debug, and support automated systems for Makino machining centers and ancillaries at customer sites, including robots, conveyors and cell controllers.

You will program robots (Fanuc/ABB), read electrical/mechanical drawings, and collaborate with engineering to resolve startup issues. Expect heavy travel and ongoing field service responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in engineering technology or equivalent required.
• 3+ years experience with automation systems desired.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Willingness to travel 75–90% to customer sites.
• Ability to program/modify robotic automation (Fanuc/ABB).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, debug and support automation systems at Mason facilities and customer sites.
• Provide weekly reporting of installation tasks completed.
• Install and support third-party integrated solutions (test stands, parts washers, etc.).
• Program/teach robots to service Makino machining centers and equipment.
• Suggest improvements based on field observations and tests.
• Test and debug machine/automation software at multiple sites.
