Job summary

Amazon's Global Engineering Services NA Operations Engineering Execution team seeks an Operations Engineer to manage complex material handling projects across North America, driving installation, testing and hand-off with internal and external teams.

The role emphasizes project ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to safety standards, with up to 75% travel nationwide. A Bachelor's in engineering and hands-on MHE/automation knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

3+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)
Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
Position includes travel up to 75% (Nationwide). Travel involves air travel to regional airports and driving to site locations.
Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level

Responsibilities

Work independently with internal and external teams to successfully manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, and act as owner in delivering on project objectives and targets
Actively participate in firm engineering reviews, and make tangible impact on the proposed solutions on an individual system or its components
Partner with internal teams, stakeholders and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines
Lead and coordinate all execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs per established standards and guidelines
Lead effective meetings by setting the objectives, putting the right people in the room and driving detailed business and technical discussions/alignment
Promptly and accurately communicate project status, risk analysis and risk mitigation plans
Competently articulate system and/or equipment designs, including layouts, technical specifications and functional capabilities
Efficiently manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals
Excel at building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple projects
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that improve the Engineering and cross teams’ efficiencies
Up to 75% travel domestically
