Job summary

Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Operations Engineering Execution (OEX) seeks a Sr. Operations Engineer to root cause, solve, and scale systemic engineering challenges in First and Middle Mile Operations.

You will lead projects with internal and external teams, delivering cost-effective solutions for sortation and distribution systems, across multiple sites with up to 75% travel. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of directly managing and responsible for multiple large projects experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field
• Experience and strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
• Experience working with Material handling equipment (MHE)
• Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
• Position includes travel up to 75% (Nationwide). Travel involves air travel to regional airports and driving to site locations. A valid driver's license is required due to project assignments in areas with limited public transportation and rideshare options.
• Preferred Qualifications include Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level

Responsibilities

• Work independently with internal and external teams to successfully manage the lifecycle of challenging projects, and act as owner in delivering on project objectives and targets.
• Actively participate in firm engineering reviews, and make tangible impact on the proposed solutions on an individual system or its components, on the overall systems architecture, and on facility processes.
• Partner with internal teams, stakeholders and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
• Lead and coordinate all execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs per established standards and guidelines.
• Lead effective meetings by setting the objectives and documenting decisions and next steps.
• Promptly and accurately communicate project status, risk analysis and mitigation plans.
• Competently articulate system and/or equipment designs to internal customers and partner teams.
• Efficiently manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice validation/approvals.
• Excel at building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies across cross-teams.
